Commercial scaffolding has a problem domestic work usually doesn't: the building is still in use. Staff, customers and deliveries all need to get past while the work happens, and a structure that blocks a shopfront or a fire exit isn't an option no matter how well it's built.

We plan commercial scaffolding around that from the start - where the standards land, how pedestrians get past, whether a protected walkway is needed, and what has to stay clear. On occupied premises we can work to your hours where access allows, so the disruptive stages don't land in the middle of your trading day.

The same applies to programme. If your contractor has a sequence to hit, we build to it, and we come back to adapt or strike the scaffold when that sequence says so rather than when it suits us.

When you need it

Common commercial scaffolding jobs

Office and retail refurbishments, shopfront works, external repairs and repointing, roof replacements on commercial buildings, cladding and render work, and planned maintenance on managed properties. We also work with main contractors on longer builds where the scaffold needs adapting as the structure changes.

If the roof is coming off, a temporary roof system keeps the building watertight and the work on programme. Where the risk is falls from an open edge rather than access, edge protection and handrail may be all that's needed. On sites with people working or passing underneath, safety scaffolding such as crash decks and protection fans can be built in.

Where access allows, yes. On occupied premises we can schedule the noisiest and most disruptive stages outside your busiest times so customers and staff aren't working around a build. Tell us your hours when you enquire and we'll plan around them.

Usually. That's the normal situation on commercial work, and it's why the design matters - protected walkways, clear entrances and fire exits all get planned in before anything goes up rather than worked around afterwards.

If any part of the structure sits on a public pavement or road, a licence from the local council is normally required before it goes up. We can advise on whether your job needs one, though the licence itself is usually applied for by the property owner or main contractor.

Yes. On longer builds the structure often needs to change as the work moves - extra lifts, altered access, sections removed. We'd rather adapt what's there than have you pay to strike and rebuild.
