Cambridge scaffolding hire

What we do

Cambridge City Scaffolding provides scaffolding hire for tradespeople, builders and homeowners across Cambridgeshire. Whether it's a terrace being re-roofed in Cambridge itself, a farmhouse extension out near Ely, or a commercial refurbishment on a working shopfront or office, we design and erect the scaffold to suit the property and the work being done on it - not a generic package pulled off a price list.

Every structure is put up by our own scaffolders, checked at each stage as it goes up, and tagged once it's confirmed safe to work from. We take it down again as soon as the job's finished, not weeks after - good value isn't just the price, it's not paying for scaffold sitting there doing nothing. We quote clearly up front so there's no surprise on the invoice.

01 • Services

Cambridge scaffolding services for every job

From a single house extension to a live commercial site - built to suit the property and the work being done on it, not a one-size fit.

Residential Scaffolding

Scaffolding for home renovations, extensions, roof repairs and decorating - built to protect your property and garden while the job's on, and taken down as soon as it's finished.

Residential Scaffolding →

Commercial Scaffolding

Scaffolding for commercial refurbishment, office fit-outs and site maintenance, built around your working hours and access needs so the business can keep running.

Commercial Scaffolding →

Temporary Roof Systems

A weatherproof cover fitted over scaffold, keeping the building - and the trades on it - dry while the roof is off. Keeps work on schedule whatever the forecast's doing.

Temporary Roof Systems →

Edge Protection & Handrail

Guarding fitted along roof edges, open floors and excavations wherever there's a fall risk - often used on its own for shorter jobs where a full scaffold isn't needed.

Edge Protection & Handrail →

Temporary Staircase & Access

Purpose-built staircases fitted to a scaffold structure for safe access - more practical than ladders on longer jobs or wherever several trades need access at once.

Temporary Staircase & Access →

Safety Scaffolding

Crash decks, protection fans and safety netting fitted to catch falling material and keep the area below a working scaffold safe for everyone using it.

04 • Why us

Built properly. Signed off properly. Taken down on time.

Every lift gets checked before it's handed over, and every structure is tagged so it's clear it's safe to work from. We quote clearly up front, turn up when we say we will, and take the scaffold down as soon as the job's finished - not weeks after. You'll have one point of contact for the whole job, not a call centre, so questions about access or timing go straight to someone who knows the site.

A

Straight quotes

One price for the job, explained before we start - no surprises on the invoice. If anything changes on site, we tell you before it affects the cost, not after.

B

Inspected structures

Every scaffold is checked and tagged before your trades go up it. Longer jobs get re-checked at agreed intervals, particularly after bad weather.

C

Local to Cambridgeshire

Cambridge and the towns around it come with real access problems - narrow streets and restricted parking in the centre, listed buildings and conservation areas needing extra care, and rural sites where lorry access isn't obvious. We work this out before the job starts, not on the day the lorry turns up.

05 • Areas covered

Scaffolding hire across Cambridgeshire

We cover Cambridge, Ely, Newmarket, Huntingdon, St Ives, St Neots and Royston, along with the villages in between. Each town has its own mix of period terraces, modern estates and rural properties, and access varies a lot between a tight Cambridge side street and a farmhouse outside Ely - so we scope every job on site rather than quoting blind. If your postcode is in this part of the world, we cover it.

06 • Questions

Scaffolding hire, explained

Cost depends on the size of the structure, how long you need it up, and how easy the site is to access. A small domestic job costs less than scaffolding a full terrace or a commercial building. We price every job individually after seeing the site or the plans - get in touch for a free, no-obligation quote.

For as long as the job needs. Most domestic jobs run from a few days to a few weeks; larger builds and renovations can need scaffold up for months. We agree a rough timeframe up front and take the structure down as soon as you tell us the work's finished.

If any part of the scaffold sits on a public pavement or road, you'll usually need a licence from the local council before it goes up. We can advise on whether your job needs one, but the licence itself is typically applied for by the property owner or their contractor.

Yes. Taking scaffold down is called striking, and it's included in the price we quote - it isn't a separate charge at the end. We book the strike in once you confirm the work above is finished.

Yes. We regularly work on listed buildings and properties in conservation areas across Cambridge, where fixings and ties need extra care to avoid damaging protected fabric. If your property is listed, tell us when you get in touch and we'll plan the scaffold around it.
