Scaffolding for roofing work in Cambridge
Re-roofs, repairs, chimneys and flat roofs. We get the access up quickly so your roofer can start - and take it down as soon as they're finished.
Who we're talking to
Booking scaffold for a roof? Start here
Roofing is what we put scaffold up for more than anything else. What you need from us depends on which side of the job you're on.
If you're a homeowner
You've had a roofing quote and now you need scaffold
Most people find out they need scaffolding when the roofer mentions it - sometimes as a separate cost, sometimes already in the quote. Either way you're free to get your own price for it. We'll give you one clear figure covering putting it up, the hire period and taking it down, and we'll work to your roofer's dates.
If you're not sure what the job actually needs, tell us what the roofer said and we'll give you a straight answer rather than quoting for more than necessary.
If you're a roofer
You need access up fast and gone when you're done
You need it up on the date you said, built how your team actually works - lifts at the right heights, boards where the material lands, and access that doesn't fight the job. And you need it struck promptly so the customer isn't chasing you about scaffold still on their drive.
Tell us the job and the dates. If the work overruns, tell us that too and we'll extend rather than pulling access out from under you.
Roofing jobs
Roofing jobs we put scaffold up for
Not every roofing job needs the same structure. These are the ones we're called out for most, and what makes each one different.
Full re-roofs
The biggest scaffold on this list - usually all elevations, with a loading bay for tiles coming off and new material going on. Worth asking about a temporary roof system if the job runs into autumn, because a stripped roof and a wet fortnight is an expensive combination.
Roof repairs and slipped tiles
Often a single elevation rather than the whole property, which keeps the cost down considerably. If a roofer has told you the whole house needs wrapping for a patch repair, it's worth getting a second opinion on that.
Chimney repairs and repointing
Needs a scaffold that reaches above the chimney itself with a working platform around it, not just access to the roof line. Usually one elevation plus a chimney lift - see scaffolding for chimney repairs.
Flat roofs and roof lights
Sometimes doesn't need a full scaffold at all. Where the risk is falling from the edge rather than reaching the work, edge protection and handrail is quicker and cheaper.
Guttering, fascias and soffits
Access along the eaves rather than up the whole roof. Often the smallest and quickest scaffold we put up, and frequently combined with other work while the access is there.
Storm and leak damage
Usually urgent, because water is already getting in. Tell us that when you call - we'll be honest about the soonest we can get there rather than giving you a date we can't hit.
Cost
What actually changes the price
Four things, mostly. How much of the roof needs access - one elevation for a chimney costs a fraction of wrapping a whole house for a re-roof. The height - a bungalow and a three-storey townhouse are different jobs. Access to the property - if the lorry can't get near and everything is carried in by hand, that costs time. And how long it's up for, which is really down to how long your roofer takes.
What doesn't change the price is us adding on the take-down at the end. Striking the scaffold is in the quote from the start, because charging separately for removing something you never wanted there is a trick, not a business model.
We quote roofing scaffold across Cambridge, Ely, Newmarket and Royston - see all areas we cover.
Coordination
Working around your roofer's dates
Up before they start
We aim to have access ready the day before your roofer is due, so nobody is standing around waiting on a scaffold that isn't finished.
Built how roofers work
Lift heights set to the roof line, boards where material actually lands, and a loading point if tiles are coming off in volume.
Struck when they're off
One call when the roof's finished and we book the strike. No leaving it on the drive for a fortnight because nobody chased it.
