Who we are

Cambridge City Scaffolding provides scaffolding hire across Cambridge and the surrounding area. In data protection terms we are the "data controller" for the information described below, which means we decide how and why it is used.

What we collect

If you fill in an enquiry form on this website, we collect the name, phone number and email address you give us, along with anything you write in the message field - typically the property address and a description of the work.

If you call or email us instead, we hold whatever details you choose to give us in order to respond and, if you go ahead, to carry out the job.

We do not ask for and do not want payment card details, bank details or any special category data through this website.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

We use your details to reply to your enquiry, prepare a quote, arrange a site visit and - if you proceed - to plan and carry out the work, apply for any highway licence needed, and invoice you afterwards.

Where you have contacted us asking for a quote, our lawful basis is that the processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract. Where we go on to carry out work for you, it is necessary for the performance of that contract. Where we keep records after a job for accounting or insurance purposes, our lawful basis is our legitimate interests in running the business properly and meeting our legal obligations.

We do not use your details for marketing unless you have asked us to.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not pass it to third parties for their own marketing.

We may share the minimum necessary information with the highway authority when applying for a scaffold licence on your behalf, with our insurers if a claim arises, with our accountant for invoicing and record-keeping, and with the web host and email provider that operate the systems this site and our inbox run on.

How long we keep it

If you enquire and do not go ahead, we keep the enquiry for a reasonable period - normally no more than two years - in case you come back to us, then delete it.

If we carry out work for you, we keep records relating to the job for as long as we need them for accounting, tax and insurance purposes. Business records generally need to be kept for at least six years, and records relating to work at height can need keeping longer for insurance reasons.

Cookies and this website

This website uses Google Tag Manager, which is a container that loads other measurement tools. Depending on what is configured in it, those tools may set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser and share information with Google, including a record of the pages you visit on this site.

Some technical files, such as the stylesheet and fonts, are also loaded from third-party content delivery networks so that pages load quickly, and those providers may log the request in their own server records.

When you first visit the site you will be asked whether you accept these cookies. Only cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to work are set before you choose. If you decline, analytics and advertising cookies are not set.

You can change your mind at any time using the cookie settings option on the consent banner, or by clearing the cookies for this site in your browser. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate details corrected, to ask us to delete data where we no longer have a reason to keep it, to ask us to restrict how we use it, and to object to processing we carry out on the basis of legitimate interests.

Complaints

If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
