Ely is a small city with a big divide. The streets around the cathedral and Palace Green are conservation area, full of period and listed property where fixings need care and the scaffold often can't tie into the building at all. Out past the ring road it's a different world: Fen villages, farmhouses and plots with plenty of room but sometimes a lane that a scaffold lorry has to reverse down.

Licensing
We handle the Ely licence
Scaffold standing on a pavement or road in Ely needs a highway licence, and only registered companies can apply for one. We're registered with Cambridgeshire and apply as part of the job.
Not the district council
The county is the highway authority, so scaffold licences go through them rather than the local district or city council.
You can't apply yourself
